How did it start?

Buji Brown Butter was born from Lisa Herlinger’s passion for transforming simple ingredients into deep, complex flavors. Carefully crafted using a time-honored, natural technique, Buji Brown Butter is the perfect ingredient for your favorite cookie recipe, or to finish a steak or vegetables, hot off the grill.  Buji’s rich, nutty aroma, smooth texture and depth of flavor will, quite frankly, blow your mind, and leave a lasting impression on everyone who tastes it. 

“When I mistakenly discovered the beauty — yes, beauty! (see pics below) — the smell, and the flavor of this solid version of brown butter, I knew I had to spread “the butter,” says founder Lisa Herlinger. “I am committed to using grass-fed butter, known for its higher levels of beta carotene, which is also responsible for the butter’s beautiful yellow appearance. Then I use traditional techniques to cook and brown it to perfection, creating a consistently delicious end product.” Herlinger goes on to explain, “I’m actually taking a beloved basic ingredient and making it kinda “fancy.” I like to say that we’re a humble character living a luxurious — or “Buji” — lifestyle.”
